Letter to Regional Clubs
To Regional Clubs
The Intermountain Appaloosa Horse Club (located in eastern Idaho) is one of the oldest continuously
running Regional clubs. Due to the economy we have not been able to afford to host a Regional Breed Show
for several years. We established an ACAAP approved open show and continue to put it on annually. Here in
the west, due to distance between places, it is difficult to even find reachable shows where our horses can earn
points. With the 25 head entry requirement a person is reluctant to haul when there is a strong possibility of
NO points. I became aware that when a regional club sponsors appaloosa classes at a show, that horses shown
in those classes at that show will earn points regardless of the number of animals shown. This is awesome for
those of us chasing points! We can haul and know ahead that our $$ will not be spent in vain. The IApHC has
sponsored the appaloosa classes at three of our local shows. We strongly recommends that other Regional clubs
look into sponsoring appaloosa classes at established shows insuring that the horses shown can earn points.
Secondly we need to promote participation in these shows in order to make it financially beneficial for them to
continue providing these classes for us.
Our local Eastern Idaho Quarter Horse Association is hosting two shows (one June 24&25 and one July
29&30, two judges each show) that have QH (open, amateur, youth, VRH) and almost 100 Appaloosa breed
classes. Plus they offer open and pony classes. The IApHC has sponsored the Appaloosa breed classes making
sure that horses shown will earn points. Information and entry forms can be found on facebook or call Debbie
Bartholomue at (801-358-7305)
Also our Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot in September has Appaloosa breed classes (Thur. 7th and
Fri. 8th) that we have sponsored. The advantage of the fair is that we can put our appaloosa horse in front of lots
of people (one of the few show that have an audience) and horseman of many breeds for a reasonable fee and
with the possibility of earning payback. Information and entry forms can be found on most of the social medias
and on the web at www.FunAtTheFair.com .
Please let your club members know about these point earning opportunities and consider hauling your
beautiful appaloosa to at least one of them. Also please make us aware of any point shows that might be within
our reach.

CONDOLENCES:
It is with great sadness in our hearts to report that Edith Stanger passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at the age of 93. Edith was one of our founders, and a driving force in the Horse Industry. She was a lifelong resident of Southeast Idaho. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to her family in this time of sorrow and loss! She will be missed by all! |
CONDOLENCES NOTE: September 18, 2016Just a note to inform the members of the passing of a friend. Bernadene (Dee) Brown left us early evening September 18th. The newer members might not know Dee as she has not been active in club events for the past several years due to failing health. She has served our club in several capacities including the most demanding job of secretary. She loved her horses and truly believed in Mr. Will Rogers statement “The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man.” This belief was not just for the handicapped but for all horsepersons. She was always trying to match people with horses and spent time locating just the right animal for whomever. She liked all horses but was especially partial to those with color and the ponies. She will be missed by all who knew her.

CONDOLENCES NOTE: Another Loss September 24, 2016:
It is not even a week since I wrote a note about the loss of a friend and here I sit in front on my stupid computer again and hardly know what to say. Betty Dixon went to be with the lord Saturday September 24th after fighting a gallant battle with cancer. Miss Betty, as many of her special friends called her, wore her heart on her sleeve. It was a very large heart and she extended that arm to everyone. In her eyes all were friends in need and she did her double dog best to see that all of our needs were taken care of. From the little things like a special card to one of us who were having issues to the diligence of being by your side to pray with you and help you through some real bad time. She had good advice for you even if at times you didn’t think you needed it. She was always the first to call and say “I’m worried about you or yours. Let’s pray together.” She loved to share your happy with you as well, and not just taking the time to share your sad. She was ALWAYS there! Betty loved her horses and other creachers. She bought an appaloosa colt from Mark Storer and showed him clear to the national show. She was an active IApHC member until she quit the big horses and went to the miniatures. She showed my Katie mare almost as much as I did and when Mary made it possible for her to have Legacy, Betty was in seventh heaven. She showed that little grey mare to a Hall of Fame (like the appaloosa register of merit) and was almost finished with Legacy’s second one. As much as she loved her animals, it didn’t hold a candle to her love for her family. She adored Ron (her devoted husband of many years) and took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grand children. Betty will be missed by all of her church and horse friends as well as her family. Our condolence and prayers are with Ron and the family. |
